So, have you been reading the news reports about the effect cell phone conversations have on people driving vehicles? Their accident rate is the same as someone driving drunk. There is no difference in the accident rates between drivers talking on “hand-held” and “hands free” phones — because what causes the accidents is inattentiveness: carrying on a conversation takes a great deal of attention!
And so does driving.
Brain researchers have even identified that the same part of the brain is used to pay attention — to BOTH driving and phone conversations, and that it does a poor job of both at once …
Ok, ok. I’m preaching. (Funny thing, that!)
Here’s the end of the sermon. Driving and talking on the phone? It’s the same effect as drinking and driving.
Don’t do it!
