 Word and Sacrament

We are created to praise God—so worship is our central and fundamental practice as a congregation. When we worship, the Spirit is gathering us together as a church. We enter into God’s time. Through the Word and Sacrament of worship, God gives us nourishment for the journey. We invite you to join us!

  • We worship on Sunday mornings at 8:30 and 11:00 AM with Holy Communion.
  • During Advent and Lent, we worship on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM with Holden Evening Prayer.

Through the words we hear and speak and sing in worship, through the bread and wine and water of the sacraments, the Spirit comes to us with God’s grace and forgiveness and salvation. We are formed to be joyous people! And the Spirit forms us to be people who hunger after God’s mercy and justice for the world. All our ministries, as followers of Jesus in our day-to-day lives, arise out of the nourishment we receive in worship.

At St. Stephen, we worship in the rich tradition of the Lutheran liturgy because the liturgy invites us into a depth of God’s presence. On Sunday mornings, our worship singing is accompanied primarily by organ but also by piano and guitar.

Karen Areheart Ives is our AMAZING Director of Music!

We invite you to worship with us!
