Welcome
Thank you for your interest in St. Stephen Preschool. Our holistic approach offers a variety of opportunities for individual and group participation. We strive to develop strong self-help and school readiness skills, encourage creativity, and provide engaging language arts and math activities.

Mission Statement
To provide a kind and friendly atmosphere in which each child will expand his/her cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development, and have an enjoyable first school experience. Our goal is for each child to develop a good self-concept and have a relaxed attitude about school.
Our Programs
Class times are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We offer 2, 3, and 5 day programs for ages 2½ to 5 years of age. All children must be potty trained. An extended day program runs Monday – Thursday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Meet Tuesdays and Thursdays
Maximum class size is 12
Should be 3 by December 31
Fours
Meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Maximum class size is 14
Should be 4 by December 31
Pre-K
Meets Monday – Friday
Maximum class size is 12
Prepares children for Kindergarten

Our Teachers

June L. Brantley is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC with a BA in sociology and elementary education. She has a K-3 teaching certificate and has 22 years teaching experience. Both her daughters are graduates of St. Stephen Preschool.
Lauren McQuain is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloominton, IN with a BS in physical education and a minor in special education. She has taught for 15 years and has done graduate work in elementary education at William and Mary and Old Dominion University. Her daughter is a graduate of St. Stephen Preschool.
Susan Ruane is a graduate of Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH with a BA in elementary education and a minor in Fine Arts. She is the mother of four boys, two of whom are graduates from St. Stephen Preschool.
Amy Colafrancesco is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is a registered nurse in NY and Virginia. She has three children who are graduates of St. Stephen Preschool.
Susan Stephens is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BA in elementary education. She has a K-8 teaching certificate and has 13 years of teaching experience. She is the mother of three children, two of whom are graduates from St. Stephen Preschool.
Patty Ballentine is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a BS in elementary education. She is a former Kindermusik teacher and has 16 years experience teaching preschool music at the Wilmington Music School in Delaware and at Walsingham Academy.
